PHYSICAL MEDIUMSHIP
SÉANCE
The purpose of this type of event is to give you, the sitter, experience with what is out there that you might not otherwise come into contact with.
I would like to state that whenever we engage in the metaphysical, whether for personal gain such as meditation or engaging in physical mediumship such as séance or table tipping, the first order of business should always be to engage in protection techniques. When leading any group, for the benefit of the group as well as myself, I will have engaged in protection prior to your arrival. I will also invoke protection prior to starting the activity for the evening. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t engage in using techniques to protect yourself. I encourage it. I have attended other events where this isn’t spoken of, so it is important as a practice to make sure you are always doing it for yourself. Remember, everything involving the metaphysical is intension based.
The modern spiritualist movement began in 1848 with the Fox sisters living in Hydesville, NY. It all began with their hearing knocking in the family home which they determined was related to a spirit who had been killed. They began communicating with it by having it respond to their questions by knocks. Later that century table tipping and séances were being held as mediums worked to find new ways to communicate with the dead that could be seen and heard by others.
Some definitions:
Physical mediumship: the production of physical phenomena such as lights, ectoplasm, levitation, apports, rappings (knocks), objects being moved, and sound being produced of bells and instruments or even spoken words. Physical mediumship often but not always involves a state of trance. This differs from mental mediumship which uses clairvoyance, Clairaudience, or clairsentience.
We have been taught all our lives that this stuff cannot happen. It goes against the laws of physics.
Trance: in general terms, a trance is a hypnotic or cataleptic state in which an individual remains awake but is mostly unaware of their surroundings. Hypnosis for example often induces a trancelike state. Spiritualist mediums can also enter into a trance while attempting to contact the spirits of the deceased. The best way to enter trance is through a meditative state.
Channeling: a phenomena where medium enters into a trance state and allows entities to communicate through him or her. This differs from mediumship as when someone is working as a medium, s/he is sharing information from the spirit realm that is being shared with them. With channeling, you may actually hear the voice of the person being channeled. The medium also may experience transmutation.
Transmutation: is when a medium during channeling takes on the facial characteristics of the person being channeled.
Séance Q & A:
What is the goal of a séance?
Séance is the physical manifestation of that in which we normally can't or don't experience. The goal, like in ghost hunting, is to help people see and understand that there is something more than the world we live in.
Is it safe?
Yes. I work hard with my spirit team to make sure that we create a safe and secure environment. When people arrive, any negative spirits around them are removed. I do a sealing prayer, which sets the intension that nothing negative will be allowed within the walls of the room of the séance and then say a further prayer setting the intension for positive interaction with the spirit world.
What can I expect to happen?
Séance is not like what you see on TV. It's more like what we come to expect from an evening of ghost hunting. The difference is that we are allowing the spirits to come to us as opposed to us going to them. What is the same as what is seen on TV is that you will be asked to sit in a chair and stay there until the evening has concluded. Unlike ghost hunting, participants are asked to just observe. In some cases though the spirit world may ask for participant interaction.
Expect gifts:
Every séance I have offered includes the gift of healing. Either everyone in the room or most in the room will experience healing in some way. There may be aports. Aports are objects that materialize in the room during the séance that are gifts from spirit. They usually take the form of small crystals, but I have been to séances in which a whole necklace has materialized.
Expect that you may hear messages from loved ones, words of wisdom or education, see shadows, shapes, colors, signs and symbols. That you may feel as if someone is touching you. A white mist may form in the room, objects in the room may be moved. The possibility is limitless.
Aren't séances held completely in the dark? In most cases, this is the norm. My séances however are not. My spirit team wants people to see what is happening. I use low lighting, which aids in people feeling more comfortable, aids in their ability to observe activity in the room, and helps assure them that nothing underhanded is going on.
What is the difference between possession and mediumship?
In possession, an undesirable entity takes over the body of a human being, forcing out or overriding that human’s spirit. It refuses to leave the body it has taken over until driven out. In mediumship, specifically physical mediumship, the medium voluntarily allows another spirit to make use of his or her energy, vocal cords, hand or arm muscles. s/he never gives up total control of the entire body. It is a mutual agreement that can be terminated at any time. There is no harm that can come to the medium.
